Robert Richter started working in arboriculture in 1994. That's over three decades of hands-on experience in every corner of the tree care industry, from climbing and pruning to full land clearing and site work. Over the years, Robert earned his ISA Certified Arborist credential, a designation that reflects a serious commitment to tree science, safety, and best practices.

After working across nearly every type of tree care operation the industry offers, Robert made a decision. He wanted to take everything he had learned and build a company that would serve the local communities of the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and Catskill Mountains the right way. Richters Tree Service was founded on that idea: professional, knowledgeable tree care delivered by people who actually know what they're doing.

We are locally owned and operated, and we bring an ISA Certified Arborist to every job. That matters because tree work isn't just about cutting. It's about understanding how trees grow, how they fail, and how to protect your property and the people on it. We're fully insured for the tree care industry, so you can have confidence the job is covered from start to finish.

Our services cover the full range of what homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients need. We handle tree trimming, tree removal, stump grinding, bracing and cabling, brush mowing, land clearing, and tree planting. We also offer estate clean-out services, junk removal, excavation and site work, property and estate management, view clearing, and consulting arborist services. Our bucket truck and backyard lift equipment lets us take on jobs others can't reach, including Christmas light installation and removal.

We serve a wide area across Greene, Albany, Saratoga, and Schoharie counties. Our crews work regularly in Catskill, Saugerties, Cairo, Greenville, Coxsackie, Ravena, Cobleskill, Schoharie, Hunter, and Windham, as well as Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Saratoga, Clifton Park, Loudonville, Delmar, Slingerlands, and Middleburgh.
